My apologies to my readers. Between illness, family issues, my daughter’s birthday and a lot of work that needed to get done on a school project, I’ve been absent from the Blog. Hopefully you’ve all remained attentive to the Dodgers through other sources.
What’d we miss? Well, Carl Crawford hit a couple home runs. Adrian Gonzalez got a big double. Matt Kemp finally hit one out. The Dodgers won a few games. They also lost a couple games that by all accounts they should’ve won.
Matt Magill made his major league debut on Saturday night in place of Stephen Fife. Fife made one start in Baltimore and almost immediately found himself on the DL with shoulder bursitis. Magill was up to the challenge, pitching 6 2/3 innings of 2 run ball and leaving to a standing ovation with a 3-2 lead over the Milwaukee Brewers. However, after Paco Rodriguez surrendered an infield bunt single and an error, Matt Guerrier gave up a 2 run home run to make it 4-3 Brewers. For good measure, Guerrier then gave up another 2 run homer in the top of the 8th to make the score 6-3 Brewers in a game where Andre Ethier’s solo shot would close the gap to 6-4, but the Dodgers would get no closer.
Matt Guerrier did a little bit of marketing for the Dodgers in the pre-season in a YouTube video that went a little viral (not as viral as some, but did get passed around quite a bit.)
“Find out in baseball what it is that you don’t do well, then don’t do that thing.”
Pitching, Matt. What you don’t do well in baseball is pitching…
I’m watching the Dodgers-Brewers game right now. Dodgers leading 1-0 after 2 innings on Carl Crawford’s leadoff blast in the Bottom of the First. Kershaw on the mound. Matt Kemp over-running what should’ve been a drop-in-front-of-him single that luckily didn’t wind up hurting on the scoreboard.. I’ll get back in the saddle this upcoming week. In the meantime, play ball!
