Clayton Kershaw wins the National League Player of the Week Award!

Clayton Kershaw was dominant in two outings this past week and now Major League Baseball has recognized his accomplishments!

Here’s a brief recap of what Clayton did during Opening Week.

-Shut out the Giants on Opening Day, going 9 innings, striking out 7, giving up only 4 hits and walking 0.

-As if shutting the Giants out wasn’t enough, Clayton added insult to injury when he broke up a scoreless tie leading off the Bottom of the 8th with a long home run to Center off of Giants reliever George Kontos.

-Kershaw continued his dominance Saturday night against the Pirates, pitching 7 more shutout innings, striking out 9, and walking 1 while giving up only 2 hits.

-The one walk Kershaw allowed was to Russell Martin with 2 out in the Top of the 7th.  3 pitches later, he picked Martin off first base to end the inning.

-The final line on Clayton Kershaw for Opening Week:  16 IP, 16K, 0 R, 0 ER, 6 Hits, 1 BB, a 2-0 record.
